Sodium in food

Today in Hurumanu 6 we had a task about Sodium What we had to do was fill out a slide about 3 ways we can reduce sodium from our food, 3 things that can happen to our bodies if we have to much sodium, and Lastly organise 13 foods highest in sodium to lowest in sodium. I learnt that Ham has lots more sodium than I thought it has 1000 mg Of sodium and I thought that tortellini packaged pasta was really high in the list but it actually was in the last 4 on the list,

I found it hard to Organise the foods highest to lowest.
I found it easy to Write 3 ways we can reduce sodium and 3 things that can happen
Today I learnt That there is a lot of sodium in Butter so you are most likely not to eat a whole pack of ham then eat a whole packet of ready salted chips, the chips have 835 mg of sodium in them and ham has 1000 mg
Here is a slide show of our slides we filled out.

How and when the Maori and Europeans arrived at NZ

Today we watched part 2 of Tangata Whenua I have writing the first part of Tangata Whenua in another blog post.
The last one was about the Maori arriving and this one is about what they named the land. How they battled. Musket wars and how they arrived.

It turns out there were more Maori people then Pakeha in 1840 Maori:40 and Pakeha:1

1642 Was the year the first European arrived. There were some names of specific people who played main roles 3 being James cook who was the next explorer to arrive in Aotearoa in 1769, Tūpaia Who was the chief navigator helping the explorers and lastly Abel Tasman who was the first European to arrive in Aotearoa.

Next question was the name that they gave the land - New Zealand - They named it Nouveau Zelandia.

Something that they had war with was a Musket. A Musket is a gun like rifle, They had wars with them that ended in late 1830's.

But the last question is What did the Europeans brought to Aotearoa, They brought Pigs,Potatoes,Rats and Diseases.
Here is a photo of Abel Tasman           and                                                James Cook
